Privacy Policy

Short version: Rascal runs entirely on your Mac. It collects nothing, sends nothing, and has no account to sign into. The details are below.

What Rascal collects

Nothing. Rascal is a local-first macOS app — no analytics, no telemetry, no accounts, and no servers of ours to talk to. Everything you do stays on your Mac.

  • No tracking. Rascal doesn’t record what you browse, open, rename, or search, and it never sends usage data anywhere.
  • No account. There is no sign-in, no profile, and no cloud sync — nothing to register and nothing to leak.
  • Local storage only. Settings, themes, and saved searches live on your Mac under ~/Library/Application Support/FinderTwo and the standard macOS preferences. File tags use macOS’s own Finder tag system.
  • Connections you start. Features like the inline terminal, SFTP, and connecting to servers or network shares talk only to the machines you point them at. That data flows directly between your Mac and those servers — never to us — and any credentials are kept in the macOS Keychain.

This website

The page you’re reading is static. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no tracking scripts.

  • No cookies or analytics. We don’t use cookies, pixels, or any analytics or advertising tools.
  • Hosting. The site is served by GitHub Pages and Cloudflare. Like any web host, they may keep short-lived request logs (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver the site and protect against abuse. That is standard infrastructure logging, handled under GitHub’s and Cloudflare’s own privacy policies.

Downloads & links

  • Downloads. App downloads are hosted on GitHub Releases — and Homebrew fetches the same files from there. Those requests are covered by GitHub’s privacy policy.
  • Links out. Links to GitHub, Homebrew, and the optional Ko-fi tip page lead to third-party sites with their own privacy policies, which we don’t control.

Your data & your choices

Because nothing is collected, there is nothing for us to access, share, sell, or delete.

  • You’re in control. All Rascal data lives on your Mac; you can inspect or remove it any time.
  • Uninstalling. Drag Rascal to the Trash. To remove its local data too, delete ~/Library/Application Support/FinderTwo and ~/Library/Preferences/dev.chang.FinderTwo.plist — or run brew uninstall --zap --cask rascal, which does it for you.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it, and the full history is public in the project repository.
